I am pretty sure at the moment that I will go in November. If not, I will go within the next year. As for the family links - my father went to school at St Paul's and I've grown up hearing stories of Darjeeling. All my life it has been in my consciousness and I've wanted to visit. Going on the toy train (steam version) was a highlight for me - having heard about it forever... I could just picture this young boy jumping off and running across the Bastasia loop to jump back on the train on the other side. I went to St Paul's and looked around it. A weird sensation knowing my dad had spent so many years there so many years ago. He was thrilled to hear all my reports of the place - he has never returned but still has a deep and abiding love for Darjeeling.
